OT Sundgau

F.A.Q.

What is the Sundgau? What are its boundaries?
The Sundgau – in the tourist sense – is a territory that includes 108 communes and extends to the extreme south of Alsace up to the border with Switzerland. It is composed of two beautiful valleys, the Ill and the Largue, and a small mountain range, the Alsatian Jura (the highest point, the Raemelsberg, is 832 m high! It is one of the most beautiful corners of the Sundgau).

Where does the name Sundgau come from?
This name comes from Alemannic: “Sund” means “South”, and “Gau” means “county” or “region”, or simply the Sundgau region!
